vmunix: tunioctl(0): Unknown ioctl 0x800c4416, count 12

I added a second disk to an HP 9000 K server as an alternate boot drive.  The server is running 11.00

Now I cannot get my PPP to work.  I can set up the session, but cant telnet or ftp into the machine.

The messages show up in syslog.log when I try to telnet.   They also show up when I run the dmesg command.

Any thoughts on how to get past this?   I need to get PPP to work.

I have a feeling when I was doing the setboot and lvlnboot commands - that something changed....

Hi,

Does telnet/ftp work locally?

can you run a lsdev

can you run a ls -ls /dev/tun* /dev/tcp

looks like the tun device is not the right dev.

Well, weird as all get out - I was able to PPP into the machine.  I ran the lsdev command, tried a local ftp,

Noticed I didnt have psh in the /etc/shells.  I added it and was able to get a local ftp to work.

Then I set up a PPP connection, and got a telnet session to display the login: prompt.

I dont believe the PPP login uses the /bin/psh shell...

dmesg still spews the tunioctl() errors

see the attached file

I am getting this from ftp now...

ftp> dir
200 PORT command successful.
425 Can't build data connection: Connection timed out.

Thanks,
Gary
