voldg: Format error in disk private region

voldisk list | grep rzc138
rzc138 sliced - - online
- - data4dg02 data4dg failed was:rzc138

# volprint -Aht
v u23 fsgen ENABLED ACTIVE 142228206 ROUND -
pl pl-10 u23 ENABLED ACTIVE 142228206 CONCAT - RW
sd rzc131-01 pl-10 0 0 142228206 data4dg01 rzc131
pl pl-11 u23 DISABLED NODEVICE 142228206 CONCAT - RW
sd rzc138-01 pl-11 0 0 142228206 data4dg02 -

Then i try to fix the Disabled device i get the following error. And the disk is online.

How do fix this, the server is running true64 V4.0 so a lot of the cool commands from version 5 is not awailable.

# voldg -g data4dg -k adddisk data4dg02=rzc138

Re: voldg: Format error in disk private region

I have now done the following:
# voldg -g data4dg -k rmdisk data4dg02
# voldisk -f init rzc138
# voldg -g data4dg -k adddisk data4dg02=rzc138

#> volrecover -g data4dg -sb
server#> fsgen/volplex: Volume u23, plex pl-11, block 0: Plex write:
Error: Write failure

# volprint -Aht
v u23 fsgen ENABLED ACTIVE 142228206 ROUND -
pl pl-10 u23 ENABLED ACTIVE 142228206 CONCAT - RW
sd rzc131-01 pl-10 0 0 142228206 data4dg01 rzc131
pl pl-11 u23 DETACHED STALE 142228206 CONCAT - WO
sd rzc138-01 pl-11 0 0 142228206 data4dg02 rzc138

If i do this command it will change to RW:
volplex -g data4dg -v u23 det pl-11

But when i do:
volrecover -g data4dg -sb
It will return the IO error and change back to WO.

It sounds like the disk underlying the problem plex is going bad. Have you checked the binary.errlog for disk errors?

Re: voldg: Format error in disk private region

Hi,

It looks like the underlying storage is a HSG80. Can you get to the console on that and check for any errors ?

show this
show other
show storage full

Cheers,

Rob
