vxfs 4.1 and 5.0
vxfs 4.1 and 5.0
I have re-installed OS with 11iv3 (April 2009) , by-default it installed vxfs 4.1.
Since i used vxvm with 11iv2, i have installed vxvm5 (vxvm 4.1 is not having in 11iv3 April 2009). vxvm5 also installed vxfs5.
I can able to import/mount my data.
But some times (not always), the basic commands like chown,chmod,etc... hangs.
so i am getting worried, did i missed any step.
If i created a FS with 4.1 in 11iv2, is it required extend that FS from 4.1
to 5.0 before i mount in 11iv3?
Thanks.

Some times so many server's are showing this type of behaviour if this type of problem is not frequently then I think its normal.
Did you checked when this commands are going hung status at that time what are the process are running? What is the CPU load? What is memory utilization?

Re: vxfs 4.1 and 5.0
Any command (chmod, chown, scp) which works on this data (vxfs 4.1), will makes the box hangs.
But any commands which works on the other data (which are created with vxfs5) works fine.

you say commands under (vxfs 4.1) makes the box hangs.. can you please check "dmesg" or /var/adm/syslog/syslog ..? when it hangs
do you have the vxfs "Critical pathes" applied in the server.
Thanks,
Johnson
