Not really, depending on what you intended to
do with it, which, of course, also remains a
mystery.

Note that wget requires the SSL stuff only to
handle schemes which use encryption, like
"https://". If all you need is simple stuff
like "ftp://" and "http://", then you can
probably get along using a wget which is
built without SSL.
