Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 (Tikanga)

Why the system picks 3 and 4 in the o/p given below rather 1 and 2? what decides.

# ll /proc/scsi/qla2xxx/
total 0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 May 13 11:23 3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 May 13 11:23 4

There are three other SCSI ports which have been detected before the QLogic Fibre Channel adapter(s).
