when iSCSI device session state becomes online??

when iSCSI device session state becomes online??

Hi,

I am mounting iSCSI volume on HP-UX 11.11.

I am using the below steps to mount iSCSI volume.

iscsiutil -a -I 172.31.146.65 -P 3260
iscsiutil -p -D
ioscan -H 255
insf -H 255
iscsiutil -p -O
ioscan -fnC disk

after running ioscan, session state is showing online for some time and again goes offline.

We can view the session state using.
#iscsiutil -pS

Then i mount that volume after creating filesystem on that.
After mounting, device session shows online permanently.
It goes offline when i umount the volume.

My question is whether this is expected behaviour that, it should be online only after mounting that volume? OR it should be online when we fire ioscan command.

Thanks.

Thanks for this post.

i am not getting what does this lines mean.

The disk doesn't have to be part of LVM or its filesystem mounted before showing "Online" Session state. If you see the iSCSI disk on ioscan, expect it to be "Online".
