wireshark core dumps when running wireshark -v

Hello all-
I recently installed wireshark version 1.1.1 on my 11.11 server.

When I first attempted to run the wireshark -v command, I got the following:
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't find path for shared library: libz.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort(coredump)

I installed zlib and tried to run wireshark -v. Now I get:

/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't open shared library: /usr/local/lib/libgpg-error.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort(coredump)

What now?

Hello Pamela.
From where did you download wireshark ?

Are all Build time and run time dependencies istalled ?

Re: wireshark core dumps when running wireshark -v

I downloaded the depot from

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Gtk/Applications/wireshark-1.1.1/

Prior to installing the wireshark depot, I had to install openssl.

Once the openssl package was installed, the wirseshark depot installed without any errors.

How can I tell if all build time and run time dependencies are installed?

I did not install HP-UX Strong Random Number Generator. Is there a depot for that?

Follow this thread for installation instructions.
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/cgi-bin/wwwtar?/hpux/Gtk/Applications/wireshark-1.1.1/wireshark-1.1.1-src-11.11.tar.gz+wireshark-1.1.1/HPUX.Install+text

there you will find the link for:
HP-UX Strong Random Number Generator depot

you can probably do a swlist and see if they are installed.

Re: wireshark core dumps when running wireshark -v

Thanks for the response. I have installed the random number generator on my test box (which required a reboot).

I also looked at the document you suggested in your last response. I would have to install about 20 other libraries to get this working. Not worth the effort.

Again. Thanks for the help.

You don't have to reboot for those 20 shlibs. And you can swcopy the depots into one, then just one swinstall.
