yar file
Hello,
Does anyone know what the yar file is using for on HP-UX b.11.11.
It locates on the root home directory and the file command says its a lex command text file type.

This looks like a strings(1) output from an executable or object. Not much use.

To expand on Dennis's answer:
it looks like this file is generated by someone with root access, maybe as a temporary file or as result of a mistake when typing a command.
It is not used by the HP-UX operating system at all, so it's safe to remove. The contents look like the output of a strings(1) command when looking into the contents of an executable file or similar, so it is not very useful if you don't know why the executable was examined and what executable it was.
