Upgrading a HSZ controller firmware…

I am planning to upgrade the firmware on my HSZ70 controller from 7.7 to 7.7. It will require a card, which I have now got, and the current configuration is stored on all the disks.

I know how to do it, but is it prudent to back up the data on the disks before I do it?

Yes, please do a full backup. I don't remember that a HSZ upgrade ever failed, but I've seen a few cases where doing modifications to a system caused data loss and we were _very_ happy that we had a backup.

Nigel,

Best practice is to do have a good backup of any data before an upgrade of any type.

Once it's in production it's all bugs after that.
