Dell Servers and OS Name
Hi, I have just installed the HPSIM and so far everything is looking great.
I have couple of questions to ask,
1) None of our Dell servers are showing the OS name when we select all systems from system lists. Any idea why?
2) Also some of servers we have in HPSIM are only showing the IP and not the name of the server. Most of these servers are behind firewall. Is there any way I can create local hosts file and edit it so it will show the System Name?
Thanks

Re: Dell Servers and OS Name
1. hpSIM uses WMI to collect information on non-ProLiant servers. Make sure that you have configured a valid OS loginname and password for those systems in Global Protocol Settings or on an individual basis under System Protocol Settings. After that Device Identification needs to be run and then to get the information collected into the database you should manually trigger Bi-Weekly Data Collection.
2. Yes. On your hpSIM server, assuming it's running Windows, find the hosts file in %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc.

Re: Dell Servers and OS Name
David, thanks for your reply. I have gone through the WMI settings and everything is what it should be.
I still cant get the OS Version or Serial Number displayed on all Dell servers.
This was not a problem with the previous version of Insight Manager (7.2).
Any other ideas??
