HP SIM 7.5 install unable to connect to host

Hi there

I am trying to install HP SIM 7.5. I had an old 7.1 installation I was trying to upgrade via 7.3 but that would not connect to the database, even though SIM was already using it.

So now I am trying another server, it is already running SQL 2008 R2 64bit for a Sophos installation. It will not connect to the existing SOPHOS instance, or create a new one.

The error is always:

Install Shell

Unable to connect to the specified host. Please check the Host,

Database and Pot values and be sure the target database is running.

Also be sure that the target database installation has the latest Service

Pack installed.

Any ideas? Getting pretty fed up with the SIM install, this is all it ever seems to do.

Thanks

Re: HP SIM 7.5 install unable to connect to host

Hello,

Do you want to upgrade your existing SIM server or is a new setup an option? How big is your machinepark? You could try to do a clean 7.5 install and let the installer setup the lightweight SQL that comes with SIM.

The HP Website should tell you what SQL versions and SP levels are supported, but if you have a smaller serverpark (less than 500 servers) you van use the SQL that you can install during setup of SIM.
Kind regards,

Andrew
