HPE Insight Management Agents (10.60.0.0) - Server 2016

Hello,

I am on the way to upgrade the first servers to 2016. So I now run into the problem that with Server 2016 and Agents Version 10.60.0.0 I am no longer able to get the status of the physical hard disks.

If I check the OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1.1.6 there is nothing around. Even the Storage Table is empty...  .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1

Did I miss something? Is this no longer supported or just mssing in the actual release of the Agents?

Even the information is not available in the HPE System Managemnet Homepage. (see attachment)

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I understand that you still use SNMP agents ? Uninstall these agents and install the WBEM agent if your hardware is below G8 or AMS and ILO if the hardware in Gen8 or newer.

The WBEM agent can be downloaded here :  look in the history for the latest version

Thanks for your fast feedback! Yes we still use snmp for a third party monitoring tool to get the hardware status out of the hp servers.

Is this also possible with the wbem agents? Or can this be done by wmi queries after installing the wbem agents?

Do you have a short example?

Thanks for your help.

Is you use HP SIm the prevered agent is WBEM on WIndows and ESX and AMS on newer hardware. Linux still uses SNMP or AMS.

Hello,

So did you install the WBEM agent? This will extend the WMI for windows so you should be able to query the server by using WMI. Or use HP SIM that uses WBEM to get the information you need.

Kind regards,

Re: HPE Insight Management Agents (10.60.0.0) - Server 2016

I've got a few DL380 G7s I need the Insight Managment on too for monitoring as well.

Documentation is not very good.

On the DL380 G7 product page the 10.60.0.0 is listed (cp030048.exe). When I attmept to install I get this:

The software is not supported for installation on this system.

The installation program couldn't find the appropriate system management controller driver which is required but is not currently installed.  Please install the appropriate system management controller driver and then rerun the setup program.

Press 'Close' to exit Setup.

What else do I need to install?

Re: HPE Insight Management Agents (10.60.0.0) - Server 2016

You need to install a complete SPP for all tools, drivers and Firmware. This will cause downtime as you will probably need to update NIC drivers and BIOS for the server. Is it a problem to have downtime ?

For monitoring you only need SMH and WBEM or SNMP agents installed. Windows 2016 is not supported in terms of agents so i would try the X64 2008 agents or just the latest SPP to see what is still supported for your G7 DL380. If i look at a Gen9 there is support for Windows 2016 but just not for your hardware setup. For the wbem agent i would install this one : http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=1009087945&swItemId=MTX_9015eb99985e44f09bb30bcfe9&swEnvOid=4231#tab1

Re: HPE Insight Management Agents (10.60.0.0) - Server 2016

Hello,

thanks for Feedback! I found out, that with an earlier Version of the SPP (2016.04.0) it is possible to get the snmp data for the Harddisks back but now Memory-Condition is still missing...

Memory OID is starting here:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.14.13.x.x

Any Idea how to get thoese snmp extension back on server 2016?

Thanks!
