OBDR and NTBACKUP

I have several clients using Windows 2000 NTBackup and HP Drives, mostly Dat40.

Any way to make OBDR work with this?

If not, why not?

Re: OBDR and NTBACKUP

check the compatibility page, you need Tapeware to get full OBDR functionality (which is supplied with the surestore version of the product):

http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/software/dat/detail/02-0073-0111.html

The reason why OBDR doesn't work with other applications is that it's a complicated beastie that requires interaction between o/s, application, SCSI hardware and the tape drive.
We need to be able to work with the vendors of all of these aspects quickly, in order to keep up with changes .By necessity we, therefore, have to draw the line somewhere.

As I recall, Tapeware does not back up Exchange without stopping it. Is that correct? Which makes it pretty much useless for these clients.

You need the open file manager for tapeware to do what you are describing :

.. but of course that costs money 8-)
