SureStore internal Drives and Windows 2000

I have installed serveral internal SureStore tape drives (20gb) on Windows 2000 servers and have seen erratic behaviors out each of them at some point or another. Currently, neither ntbackup.exe or removable storage will acknowledge that there is a tape in the drive. The tapeassure software reports that the drive is OK, but does not see a tape either - so I cannot perform read/write test. Does anybody have any info on this type of problem?

Re: SureStore internal Drives and Windows 2000

Hi Dave,

I too have experienced this same thing. I asked a Server Guru friend of mine who told me that I needed backup software. One that he recommended was NovaStor (NovaBackup). There are others, but the priced was right with this one.

But I would still think that Win2k would be able to use the built-in backup program with the Surestore, but as many times as I tried to get it to work, I had to resort to using something else.
