thanks ,it does help. What about density ? Is this important ,or will this be handles by the ISV software for example Data Protector

What do you mean by density? are you spoking about block size? if yes, this is usualy managed by the Backup application, and will vary depending of the drive you have in the library

No ,by density i mean DLT ,LTO or LTO 2 .
I am having some performance issues ,when backing up the same type of data to 2 different UX versions ( HPUX and AIX) .
