I am trying to verify that a recently acquired 4448W Library is HVD (High Voltage Differential) since it is not recognized on Adaptec 29160 Controller (LVD).
Also can anyone point me toward any online documentation. I have not been able to find a User Manual.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Solution
One of my old configuration guides indicates that this library has both HVD and SE SCSI interfaces but notes that the SE-SCSI interface is not supported. There is also a note to make sure that BOTH the switch selected termination and an external terminator are not used together -- which makes sense; use one or the other but not both.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: 4448W Library - HVD or LVD
Hello Ed,
here the link to the User Manual:
http://h200007.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg28403/lpg28403.pdf
see page 1-8
More Information for the Product from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?locale=en_US&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=64042
All this can be reach from here:
http://www.docs.hp.com/
Now back to your problem. Clay is right the product has HVD and Single ended interface, which can be selected with a switch.
To use the single ended part on LVD might work, but you would not get the DLT drives into streaming. This means you would get showshine effects which might kill drives and media. I would use a HVD interface in your host or a HVD-LVD converter.
Another Point:
If you connect LVD to an HVD interface you might even kill the signal line drivers on one of the boards (interface or converter PCA in library) in worst case. Hopefully the boards are protected against that and only shutdown the boards.
Hope this Helps.
