AIT 35 LVD internal SCSI and SCSI controller drivers for W2K3 on Proliant ML370
Hi,
We are going to upgrade our five Proliants
ML370 from W2K to Windows 2003.
The current hardware configuration of the
servers is:
Proliant ML370 (BIOS version P17 12/18/02),
1 Ghz PIII, 1Gb RAM,
Integrated Dual Channel Wide Ultra2 SCSI
Controller, 2 x Compaq BD03664553 HD,
AIT 35 GB LVD SCSI Tape Drive.
We have been using the following SCSI
drivers under W2K without any problem :
1) CPQ32FS2.SYS (v. 5.12.20.0 of 8/15/20001)
for the SCSI controller
2) caitw2i.sys (v.1.0.0.1) for the tape drive
The tape drive is detected by W2K as "COMPAQSDX-400C SCSI Sequential Device"
When I first checked the server's
upgradability to W2K3 by "winnt32 /checkupgradeonly"
I was instructed to update HDD driver. So, I
downloaded the latest driver from COMPAQ
support site.
It was CPQ32FS2.SYS v.5.24.0.0 of 11/12/2002.
The driver won't work properly with the tape
drive!
After I installed it, my tape drive
disappeared from the system.
After rebooting the computer a strange window
pops up - "Unsafe Removal of device" and the
device reported is "COMPAQ SDX-400C SCSI
Sequential Device".
Then, I rolled everything back and deleted
the tape drive from the system prior to
CPQ32FS2.SYS setup.
But it did not help.
Moreover, a bunch of parity check errors
produced by CPQ32FS2.SYS appeared in the
system log.
So, I decided to find the latest driver for
the tape device, and downloaded SP24875.EXE
from the support site.
It won't work at all, neither with the old
CPQ32FS2.SYS (v. 5.12.20.0 of 8/15/20001),
nor with the new CPQ32FS2.SYS v.5.24.0.0 of
11/12/2002.
Then, I looked for cait2i.sys driver on the
COMPAQ Support Site, and what a strange
thing - I did not find ANY reference to it
anywhere! It seems to be very mysterious
thing.
I am really puzzled now.
What combination ofstorage drivers should I
use on my Proliants under W2K3?
Please help!
