About cleaning tapes

I have a DLT 2/20 and when I try to pass the cleaning tape on it, it sends the message that my cleaning tape has expired. Is it normal?
Do I have to change my cleaning tape or there is something else I can do.

Suggest you replace it. It counts the number of times it has been used.
