C1537A ( tape drive ) is this DDS3 ?

Hello All,

C1537A is this a DDS3 dat drive ? can I use
DDS2 & DDS4 on this drive ?

This is a DDS3 drive. The rule is that a higher DDS can read tape written by a lower DDS drive but the converse is not true.

For example, your DDS3 can write tapes that can be read by DDS3 and DDS4 drives BUT a DDS2 drive cannot read your tape.

I keep an old DDS (2GB) drive around so that I can send data to any DDS drive.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

DDS4 no
DDS2 yes

I have that drive on a few D boxes.

Hello Jerry,

It is a DDS-3 drive.

Compatibility:
DDS, DDS-DC, DDS2, DDS3.

You cannot use DDS4 tapes anyway.
