Re: C6379A compatibility issue

AFAIK the C6379A is a HVD SCSI drive - if your DVD drive is working on the same controller, the controller must be LVD and is just not compatible.

You need another HBA.

Hope this helps!

Re: C6379A compatibility issue

The build in connection is not HVD - do you have another card installed?

Hope this helps!

Re: C6379A compatibility issue

according to what I have read...the U2SCSI port (left) on the backplane is compatible with tape devices. The USCSI port (right) is not.....I am trying to connect through the U2SCSI port which should work ?

Re: C6379A compatibility issue

The left port is compatible to *LVD* tape devices.

The controller is Ultra2 - not HVD!

If you are using a HVD drive, you must use a HVD controller too.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: C6379A compatibility issue

The naming of different scsi standards is always a mess.

FWD is aka HVD, Ultra, ultra2 and some others are LVD.

The difference is in fact 2 Volt and this can burn your devices.

You need to use a HVD/FWD SCSI HBA.

I hope we have a solution now and none of the devices are damaged.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
