C7497A DDS4 - No Hardware Compression

I am using a C7497A on an HP9000 D class server running HPUX 11.0.

I cannot seem to get better then normal native compression ratios through my DDS4.

I know that the data is compressable - I have a DDS3 (12/24) that gets the 21GB of test data I have set up, but the DDS4 cannot.

please advise, thank you in advance!

Check dip switch settings at the bottom of the drive - all on except 3rd is off. Check drive's health and compression status with HP LTT http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html . Run compression test

HP Support told me the same thing - flip the 3rd switch to "off" seemingly no effect.
