Cannot write to device ([87] The parameter is incorrect. on LTO 3 standalone 960 drive

Hi I am getting the following error message when doing backups from win2003 server onto standalone 960 lto 3 drive

Cannot write to device ([87] The parameter is incorrect.

My backup then fails. I also see the following messages in debug.log on the server we are trying to backup.

SeqWrite: (scsi3:0:3:0C): SCTL_Write()=-1: {1026}

We had the drive swapped out so i am thinking it cannot be hardware but why are we still getting messages about SCSI/hardware issues.

I have tried the default block size and also 512 but same problem, tonight I will try 256 and see but am not hopeful.

I am seeing the same thing on an LTO4 when trying to format a cartridge. I had overridden the tape size - I'm trying another format operation with the "default" tape size.

Found this link:

I already had Windows2003 SP2, so I'm trying the registry hack to see if it helps.
