Cleaning
I saw a thread in this forum where two posters asked about cleaning SDLT drives. It never was answered as far as I could tell.
I too am curiuos. I work for an intergrator as a tech and recently one of our salesman announced we didn't need cleaning tapes if the tape drive in the project was an SDLT. He claims that Compaq discourages cleaning SDLTs, however I cannot find that anywhere on Compaqs web site. In fact in the manual it says nothing about cleaning.
Whats the deal? Do the cartridges have a cleaning leader or something simular?
I did see an SDLT cleaning cartridge available at Quantum (MR-SACCL-01).

Re: Cleaning
We still have that error using BackupExec for NetWare. Compaq technician had one of the office's clean the drive a total of 6 times before the error dissappeared. If you ask me SDLT's have a lot of bugs. We are running into numerous problems with the drives.
