Colorado 8GB Tape Drive

I have an IBM T22 laptop with an external USB floppy drive. I do not have the IBM "A" floppy drive.I am using the Colorado 8GB external tape drive and can make the complete backup through the parallel port. The trouble I have is that when I try to make a diaster recovery disk set, the software only has "A" drive in it. As I have no "A" drive it just bombs out. Is there a way or update or change the HP software to write to "E" drive which is the USB floppy drive?? The software I have is "HP Colorado Backup II v 9.1". Any help would be appreciated!!
