Configuration prob with MSL6030 Library using HP Ultrium 460 in AIX v5.3

I'm having following configuration
- IBM P-Series system with AIX v5.3 OS
- MSL6030 FC Library with Two no. of HP Ultrium 460 LTO2 SCSI Drives.

AIX OS does detects these two drives as rmt1 and rmt2 and the driver name shown as "Other FC SCSI Tape Drive (OST)"
Drive connection settings shows as 2 and 3 respectively (where as Drive SCSI IDs are 1 and 2).

rmt0 is a directly attached scsi drive and is working fine.

When cfgmgr command is executed it report following message when reconfiguring the OS device list

device support but are not currently installed.
devices.fcp.array
devices.fcp.changer
-----------------------------------------------
I have tried tar,dd or cpio but none of them works with the tape.

I'm not able to find any Ultrium 460 LTO2 drivers at HP site for AIX.

However HP site shows these drives are compatible with AIX 5.3.

Can someone tell me whether a driver for AIX is needed, if not what else is required to be configured at AIX site to make the drives accessible using native OS commands.

You need to install

devices.fcp.array
devices.fcp.changer

I think you can find these drivers on you aix media

Hi Luk:

I'm unable to find those filesets in AIX media sets. Do you know exactly where it is available or if you have it can you attach those files to this forum.

Ok guys.

Problem solved, although cfgmgr error is still reporting. I just changed the LTO Tape Block_size to Variable Length (=0) and the drive is working fine.

command:
chdev -l rmt0 -a block_size=0
