Anybody knows if HP still support HP DLT40 Tape Drive (external) and if it's compatilbe to HP Proliant DL380 G4 Server?
The Hardware Compatibility Table available on HP website doesn't include the model of HP DLT40.
Thanks & Regards!

Re: Connect HP DLT40 Tape Drive to HP Proliant DL380 G4 Server
Pls check the interface on your system and your DLT40. If DLT40 side is LVD and same as system go ahaead. If not you may have to buy an additional interface.

SolutionLVD means Low Voltage Differential.
Most SCSI interfaces use this mode to transfer data ( U2W / U3W / U160 / U320 ).
Samples Adaptec 2940 U2W 29160 etc.
HVD ( High Voltage Differential ) is used on F/W/D interfaces ( Sample is Adaptec 2944 ).
You cannot mix any device from one with the other without severe damage.

Re: Connect HP DLT40 Tape Drive to HP Proliant DL380 G4 Server
I just over looked DLT as DAT!!
DLT40 is SCSI-2 interface, which not LVD.
Do not try non-LVD on LVD bus. Connect only if you have SCSI-2 interface on the server.
See attached document regarding SCSI/FC.
