DAT24 and XP-Pro...drive letter?
I've taken a Surestore Dat24 out of a dying old NetServer LC2 and wanted to see if I could get it to run in a newer XP-Pro box. The OS recognizes the drive and even updated the drivers off the web, but I need it to have a drive letter and XP doesn't assign one, nor does it give me a place to even try. All the info is listed correctly in "Computer Management|Removable Storage."
I tried accessing it by typing \\.\Tape0 in an address bar as well, no luck.
The drive is attached to the mobo with an Adaptec 2906 SCSI card from the NetServer, and I can't find anything in the BIOS that relates to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DAT24 and XP-Pro...drive letter?
hi, you can't assign a special drive letter to a tape drive... you can access through ntbackup or another tapebackup software :)
