DAT40x6 setup on compaq tru64 5.1a

Could someone tell me how to install the dat40x6 autoloader on a tru64 machine?

I believe the dip switch settings should be:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
On On Off On On On On Off

But which devices need I make/generate. I want to setup arkeia backup software and it asks for the control device. I thought that that it would be /dev/tape/tape1 (which mt sees as a tape device), however arkeia doesn't recognise it as such.

Any ideas?
