DDS-3 under Windows XP

Cannot make C1537A attached to AHA-2940UW work under Win XP. The drive is recognized by OS but cannot do anything to it with a backup software (Windows Backup or Veritas Backup Exec).

Any suggestions?

Re: DDS-3 under Windows XP

hi,
be sure you have stopped the services :removable storage" or it will keep the owneship of the drive.
if you have still problem, run Storagework Library and Tapetools that is the tool used to diagnose the Tapes drives

Re: DDS-3 under Windows XP

The tape dive came out of a Sun server - can it be that Sun specific firmware on it, and if yes, can it be part of the problem?

Thank you for your help

Re: DDS-3 under Windows XP

I guess not a firmware - but bottom dip switches setting. Check them to be all on except 3rd off

Re: DDS-3 under Windows XP

Got it running.
Had to put another HBA in just for the tape - this time Symbios/LSI 53C875.
So now I have 2 HDDs on Adaptec HBA and 1 tape drive on LSI.
However, transfer rate looks poor. So far Tapeware registers 860 Kb/s (50 Mb/min)

Thank you,
Alex
