DDS4 20/40GB DAT Drive problem
Can any one help. Windows 2000 server Proliant ML370 Compaq , Went to eject the back up tape, and would not eject. On the server, computer management, Physical locations shows the DAT drive with a red cross. try to eject the tape from here and the error message "the resources required for this operation do not exist.
server is running SP4, with Veritas BAckup Exec V9 and Exchange.. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this back up and running?

Re: DDS4 20/40GB DAT Drive problem
-you may have a dead drive >> nothing to do
-you may have power problem to the drive >> check power cable
-you may have lost connection to the drive and the drive is set in "reserved mode" >> try to push for 10 seconds the eject button, or reboot the server

Re: DDS4 20/40GB DAT Drive problem
Thanks for the response.
Already rebooted the server, and still no joy there. I also tried the hold for ten seconds eject on the front of the DAT drive, to eject the tape... still no joy..
The DAT drive is still recognised in the Device manager, is there anything else I can try before commiting the DAT drive to the scrap heap? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
