DLT 7000 drive not functioning

Hi ,

We have a DLT 7000 15 slot DLT Tape Drive. One of its drive is not functioning.

Model : 4215W
Prod No: C5171F

When we check in the front panel for errors it displays the following error messages.

5Eh, 0h, 44h.

Is anybody aware of what these error code mean?

Regards,

Sukant

Re: DLT 7000 drive not functioning

Are these all hex codes from the hard error log?

The hard error log is under:
Admin -> Info -> Hard errors.

If you can provide the fields along with the values, that will help.

If 5E is the Hardware Err code for the first entry, then something is blocking the vertical path sensor (such as a half-inserted tape), or the optical sensor has failed or is unplugged.

Please clarify which fields the other numbers you provided correspond to... Thanks.

Re: DLT 7000 drive not functioning

I couldn't find an error code 24H (or 24 decimal) for the 15 slot library.

Which specific product model do you have?

Also, if you could provide all the information in the error log entry, that would help.

Re: DLT 7000 drive not functioning

It looks like we have two different questions here. I'll answer them in order.

Neither posting gives enough information to really help so please post everything you know about the failure and the full log entries.

Hard error code 5EH as a previous poster replied, is a blocked vertical path sensor. There are optical sensors that look check for objects blocking the vertical travel of the picker and this error is set when one is block that shouldn't be. The other error is a drve test error. There are several drive test errors and more information is needed to see what the problem is.

The error 24H referenced by the second poster can be two different things. If the poster is having a drive problem then this is probably not a hard error code, but rather an error qualifier and means that the drive did not complete an unload request in the time allowed. This poster didn't even mention what product he had. If it is the same as the original the error 24H as an error code refers to a picker positioning error. The picker was testing for an object at a certain position and didn't find it there.

Again without a full error log I can't tell exactly what the problem is.

Re: DLT 7000 drive not functioning

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for the delay in responding to this.

We have now replaced the picker assembly and things are working fine now.
