DLT 7000/8000 |Tape Drive Has Hardware Fault - Call Help-Line (31) CRITICAL.
This problem was on drive 3. I did change it.But now I have this problem on drives 2 and 4.I did upgrade of firmware but it din not help. |

Lubomir, do you have cleaning tape in the library? Drives should be cleaned only on their requests. If drive is not cleaned for long period then it can fail because of particles on the magnetic head (so many particles so cleaning tape will be unable to remove them), but if you overclean drive heads will be physically cut by abrasive cleaning tape (look for events like "trying to backup to cleaning tape" in library's event log).
If you have cleaning tape - what is its age? Tape can be used for a fixed # of cleanings (20 or 40, sorry, do not remember).
In addition if you often use new tapes they can act like cleaning tapes (new tapes, when used first time, have particles/debris removed, and these particles usually adhere to the head)

Most probably... replace drive 2 and 4!

Is the library in a dusty environment?

How much are drives 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 used in relation to each other?
