DLT Flash Update

I need to perform a flash update of the DLT7000 drives on my TL891 library connected via a fibre SAN. I have installed the Tape Storage management software, but am not able to send the updates to the drives through it. I get an "Unable to update via fibre" error. Is this normal?
There is also an option available from the front panel to update the rom via tape, but I can not find any instructions on how to do that. not even from the service manual.
Also where to I get the software and instructions to update the device via the serial port as the last resort.
Any advice would be appreciated.
