DLT Library 2/20

Can both a drives share single job on DLT library? Is there any possibility to reduce the backup duraion by creating drive pool(?) and share the single job?

Yes we do that way. Check your backup software for more info.

Re: DLT Library 2/20

Most backup software can achieve this. Most computers have their storace split into well defined chunks. On Unix, these chunks are filesystems and in windows they are drives. Most backup software back up these chunks as individual objects and can back them up to whichever drive you specify or, in some cases load balance them across drives.

There are some disadvantages though. Firstly, a machine writing to several tape dives must work much harder to keep all the tape drives streaming (which is what you want if you don't want your drives to break and your backups to slow to a crawl). Also, if doing network backups, the network itself can become a bottleneck.
