DLT8000 hardware problem?
DLT 8000 6 drive 60tape
yesterday drive 3 cant finish session,
report is following:
[Major] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 3" Time: 02/21/02 12:00:45
[90:63] Can not load exchanger medium (Target drive is busy.)
[Normal] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 3" Time: 02/21/02 12:00:45
ABORTED Medium Agent "Drive 3"
i find one tape that used previous session still in drive 3,i unload it from drive 3 myself.
today,i find drive 4 has something wring,
report as following:
[Major] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 4" Time: 02/22/02 00:09:33
[90:181] Can not backspace segment. ([5] I/O error)
[Minor] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 4" Time: 02/22/02 00:09:33
[90:65] /dev/rmt/1m
Can not append to medium ([5] I/O error)
[Major] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 4" Time: 02/22/02 00:09:34
[90:180] Can not rewind medium. ([16] Device busy)
[Major] From: BMA@dbbak-lc "Drive 4" Time: 02/22/02 00:09:34
[90:64] Can not unload exchanger medium (Details unknown.)
what's the matter of this DLT 8000?

Hi,
I have some suggestions for you.
1. Load the latest omniback patches for
your version. The patches can be found
at the following link:
http://support.openview.hp.com/cpe/patches/ob/ob.jsp
2. Do any of these tape drives backup information
from more than one host? If so you need to
make sure that no SCSI resets occur. In
order to stop this, you need to disable the
EMS monitoring for dm_stape monitor.
3. Make sure that there is lock file name
defined for each logical drive in omniback.
4. Update your firmware to the latest version.
5. Make sure that you have the 'st_ats_enabled'
kernel parameter set to 0
