DLT8000 tape drive - what flavor(s) of SCSI are supported?

Quick points to be had here!

A5589A HP SureStore DLT8000 Tape Drive HVDS - can I cable these drives to:

-SCSI C1010 Ultra160 Wide LVD A6793-60001
-SCSI C1010 Ultra Wide A6793-60001
-SCSI C896 Ultra2 Wide LVD

Basically, I just need to know if DLT8000 supports ULTRA connections. Also, even if they DON'T support those connections, can I still cable the drives to the cards and will the SCSI card automatically step down the speed to match the device's highest supported speed?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,
your unit is a HVDS that mean Hight Voltage Differential SCSI,
the HBA are all LVDS (Low Voltage Differetial)

These (HVD and LVD) are two uncompatible electrical standard for scsi communication, so you cannot connect your Tape Drive to these controllers

Nothing to do with SCSI speed or connection

To connect to your HVDS library/drives, you should use a card like the Adaptec AHA-2944UW.
The journey IS the reward.
