Dat24 initialize problems
This problem is driving me nuts. I have been using a jetstore 2000 dds1 for 2 months. I use BackupMy PC by Orlogix/StompINC (formerly sold by Veritas) no
problem. I now have a DAT24e
(a supported device acording to their web site).I cannot initialze any tapes. The software reports the media is unformated and begins the init process but does not seem able to read the tape and returns to the same banner. LTT performs all tests and diags without any problems on both mechs. The
tape drive mech has been exchanged.
My system is running XP home
the tape drive is connected via an Adaptec aic-7850 pci card. The problem ALSO occurs
on my OMNIBOOK 6100 using an
adaptec PCMCIA CARD (win2000)
The support from Orlogix is worse than poor,(their ONLY advise was to return the Software for a refund).
So to try and rule out the software I downloaded the trial version of Tapeware.
Again the DDS1 drive works, but if I try to use the DAT24
I get error 410 Invalid Block size. this has been again tried on both computers with the same results.I really don't know what to do now. The DDS1
is not sufficient for my needs, the hardware has been
changed and problems with different software. I use HP tapes, and am aware of the differnt tape requirements for the two units. I must be missing something..help
