Data transferability between Win2K and UNIX using tape

Hi
I intend to purchase a DAT40 tape drive for my Win2K server. I choose DAT40 tape drive as it is compatible with my DDS2 drives in my HP9000 servers.

But in the first place, can I transfer data between Windows and UNIX using tape?? If it is not possible, I will go ahead with DAT72 drive instead.

Note that I have no experience in Windows backup technologies

Thank you for any feedback

For what I remember, this is highly dependent of the application you used to backup data, some application could read also Tar or dump backup.
I suggest you to check with the SW application support if they are able to read the format you have on your tape.

Works fine with Data Protector. Guess it'll depend on what you are going to try and use to read/write the data on disk and on tape. Obviously, system specific ACLs will be lost, but the data itself should be fine.

Thanks,
