Re: Dataprotector "Disable Medium header verification"

Hi,

I have not found any way to disable Media header verification, there is no option in the global or .omnirc option files. What is the reason for disabling header verification ?

What is meant with 'Medium header Verification' - could this be a problem with to use of media protection?

Re: Dataprotector "Disable Medium header verification"

Hi,
Something must be wrong. After backup the media is rewound and he media header (at the start of media) is verified). This verification will not take long time, max. 1 minute. In your case it seems as the entire media is verified (or even worse, a normal, full verification will not take 19 hours).

It is not possible to configure automatic (full media) verification in DP, is there perhaps a vedia verification started as a post_exec job ?

Is CRC-checksum (for the device) enabled ?

Re: Dataprotector "Disable Medium header verification"

Robin,

Your medium will be bad. A Medium Header Verification should take a minute or so to complete.

Run a 'verify' of your tape to see if any troubles are occuring. Is the status of the tape still 'good'?

If the problem occurs with any (or even a new) tape, there will be a hardware problem with the drive.

best regards,
Kurt

No the CRC-Option is disabled and it's no post_exec defined.

Medium header verification:

Medium header verification completed, 0 errors found

Re: Dataprotector "Disable Medium header verification"

Not in all Backupjobs the Medium header verification takes so long. It's only one Job. In the other Jobs takes only 1,5 minutes.

The verification takes 19h every week at the full backup with three different Tapes.

Hi!

Try "cleaning" your omniback database...
Example: omnidbcheck -extended

SIBF(readability) -sibf OK
