Drive Cleaning/Calibration for C1537a

We were getting I/O errors using DDS-2 tapes for daily differential backups. That problem was solved when I calibrated the drive using a DDS-2 tape.

Now I am getting hard errors doing full backups using DDS-3 tapes. Did I mess up?

I'm not 100% sure, but guess that to recalibrate DDS3 drive's heads you had to use DDS3 tape, not DDS2. I did not find anything on it in the LTT help.
You can ask LTT team - ltt_team@hp.com

I tried to recalibrate with a DDS-3 cartidge but got a message "This drive has been recalibrated before - unable to proceed"

Yes, drive can only be recalibrated once. Contact LTT team - maybe they will help you

I sent them an email but have not heard back. Does this mean that if no recalibration is possible, I am stuck using DDS-2 tapes?

Try upgrading the FW (or even when it is on revision, this clears the logs.) then you might be able to recallibrate.

Reloaded the firmware, same problem.
