Drive Cleaning/Calibration for C1537a

We are using a C1537a for backups, it worked fine last school year, but this year, using TapeWare form Yosemite, on full backups using DDS3 tapes, we get a message "The device Dev-2.0.3.0: HP C1537A needs to be cleaned". On daily differential backups using DDS2 tapes, they fail.

I read some messages suggesting re-calibration, but could not find the Tape Utility for this device.

Thanks for any help,

Joe

Is this the software to calibrate? I did not see that function?

Joe,
this program has online help :)
Open it, select drive and generate support ticket. Look into it. If it will tell you to recalibrate, then 'get files from the web...', download DDS3 recal script and run it

Joe,

If you click on Utilities and run script - this is how you recalibrate. put a check beside the drive and click on browse - the script will already be there - ddswriterecal.ssc. choose that script and click run script. Make sure you use a brand new DDS3 tape.
Also you should be cleaning the drive once a week.
