Drives in library not responding
I have a problem:
I've connected a STK L700 library to my system using fibre channel.
All kernel drivers are present and the system recognizes the drives (ioscan). When using a mt command to check a drive, I always receive the message "Device is busy", even if there's no tape loaded at all. Now what can be wrong ?
fcmsutil also reports "Device is busy".
Who can help....?
Thanks

Re: Drives in library not responding
Do you have the "schgr" driver configured into the kernel. Also make sure you are not using a write protected dlt in the drive. you can check the status of the drive using the mc command.
mc -p /dev/rac/cxtydz -r DS
here /dev/rac/cxrydz is the device file for the picker. you can do a ioscan -fnk to get this device file.
hope this helps.

Re: Drives in library not responding
Which driver are you using ? Which system and which OS ? I think you should have 'schgr' or 'spt' driver in the kernel and should be configured for the library.
Did you check the ioscan -fn output ?

Re: Drives in library not responding
mc can move tape to drive, but that's all.
Here's a sample:
fcmsutil /dev/rmt/c25t0d0BESTn
could not open device file.: Device busy

Re: Drives in library not responding
STK didnot connect the drives correctly. Problem is now solved.
