EML 71e initialization process

Dear All,

In this thread I have two query regarding EML 71e library.

1. What is the initialization process of EML 71e library after powering on ?

2. We have seen in EML 71e support both kind of drive LTO-3 and LTO-4. Incase of LTO-3, drive are connected with Interface Controller(IC) through FC. but incase of LTO-4 drive FC port directly connected with SAN switch and drive MGMT port connected with ethernet switch. Then incase of LTO-4 what is the function of IC ?

advance thanks to all for quick response.

Re: EML 71e initialization process

1) the library is doing hardware checks and initialisation, drive setup, network init and inventory. This takes ~30 min.

2) the IC connects the robot to fibre channel.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: EML 71e initialization process

Hi Torsten.

Thanks for ur quick response,

IC having two FC port FC0 and FC1, from which port should I connect to SAN switch for prensenting the robotic on hosts.

If I connect both the port then what would be the impact ?

Re: EML 71e initialization process

Libraries are not really redundant, so you should connect port 0 only (also for the drives).

The other port may come into play if you create partitions on this library.

The command view TL manual has some more informations.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
