EML103 + BE 10d (drive is busy)
EVA4k+EML103(4x960FC drives)+4 BE media servers+zoning,no adv.secure manager, the problem is that 2 servers can use tape drives and the next(with the same congif) recieves an error "Library error-device is busy". Veritas said it's hardware error, Hp said if no errors in library log -it's software error. Is there any limitations for number of hosts/backup software connections to EML 103 drives?

Re: EML103 + BE 10d (drive is busy)
There is no limitation for number of hosts. My opinion is that BE is your problem. Yes theoretically it should work, but the arbitration for drives and robotics with this software is not the best. When you have a problem you should do the following: Make sure that the removable storage service is NOT running on any Windows server that can see the robot/drives. Shutdown your backupservers. Reboot library, wait till library is totally up and running, boot you master BE server, check functionality and boot the other backup servers. Everything should work now.
I know customers do not like this...
If you want to do proper backups use Legato, Netbackup or Dataprotector.

Re: EML103 + BE 10d (drive is busy)
Not clear if the same tape is seen on one server and not on the second, or if some tapes are missing
if you are using E2400 IC, without Advanced secure manager, the IM will present two drives on one port and the other two on the second port this for a basic load balancing. Then be sure you have connected both FC cables to switches, and zoned accordly.
Also be sure that you do not have any Windows server in the san with RSM active that could interfere with the tape devices.
