It logs this error once a day on average and no application uses it at the time specified in the above log. Anyone can help please?

Thanks very much in advance.

Re: EMS message from autoloader

Hello Vincent;

I get a similar error on my HP A4845A and gave up on fixing it a long time ago. There are two somewhat obvious possibilities (and a plethora of not so obvious ones).

1) Your system is trying to do a poll of devices on that bus (SCSI command) and the particular one it is initiating is unsupported.
One of the SCSI gurus will have to jump in here to tell us which one.
2) Your EMS version is out of date with your current patches. If you update to the same Diagnostics from your currently installed support plus patches, many of these types of issues seem to be cleared up.

I believe the current version from June 2001 is A.03.20.

Re: EMS message from autoloader

Oops, sorry, I see that you are already at A.03.20. Do you have predictive installed? If so, it may be polling the bus to see if something is wrong. Come to think of it, I have predictive installed on the machine connected to our library, but we don't have anyway for it to contact the outside world. I wonder if the poll times reflect against the EMS error. Maybe I will uninstall it, to see if my error goes away.

Re: EMS message from autoloader

Thanks Angus.

Yesterday I discovered that at 00.15 (the time mentioned in the log), a backup is being performed. It goes like this... the backup is started at 00.00 and finishes as 00.36 or something like that. At 00.15, it seems that something weird happens, but I don't know exactly. The backup seems to be stored well in the tapes.

Maybe we have to go there personally and try to replicate the backup and see after 15 minutes what happens...

Any suggestions are welcome in the meantime.

Thanks
