ESL712e attached to NetApp filer 3050

I currently have a brand new ESL712e Tape Library with LTO3 drives. It is attached(F_port) to the SAN via Brocade 48000 Switch. Also attached(F_Port) to the fabric is a NetApp Filer 3050. Has anyone managed to successfully get a filer to see the HP tape drives?

This is the error I get on the Filer side when I attempt to connect.

"Wed Sep 26 21:05:37 MST [filer01: fci.fabric.max.ports:error]: Switch with WWN 100000051e361c90 on Fibre Channel adapter 2a exceeded the maximum number of ports supported: Maximum ports supported is 256 and this switch has 384 ports."

I have opened a case with HP and NetApp on this. This is an unsupported configuration but it is possible. Hints and tips from anyone would be appreciated.

Re: ESL712e attached to NetApp filer 3050

Hi,

That error message would appear to indicate a limitation of the NetApp filer rather than a problem with the library...

I've never seen this configuration, but maybe you could try disabling some (128) ports on the SAN switch and see if that helps things connect... assuming you can of course !

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Upgraded OnTAP to 7.2.3 and enabled FCS on the HBA ports. Now tape drives are visible and NDMP is working correctly.
