ESL712e library partition

We are trying to implement tape library partioning and are having no luck. I apprecaite if anyone can advise on what needs to be done. Thanks in advance!

Scenario:
We have one ESL712e tape library with 15 LTO4 tape drives.
One HP ESL e2400-FC 2Gb I/F Controller.

We have two fabric (Fabric 1, Fabric 2)switches.

Old backup environment is CommVault. Port 0 on Interface Controller is connected to Fabric 2. 11 tape drives and Interface Controller WWNN are zoned to CommVault Media Server.

We are building a new Data protector backup environment using the same ESL712e library and Fabric 1.
ESL712e is partitoned (using CommandView TL)into two as listed below:
Partition#1: Data protector with 4 tape drives and Robotic Controller.
Partition#2: CommVault with 11 tape drives and Robotic Controller.

FC cabling: Partion#1 - Data Protector environment
Port 0 of each of the 4 drives and Port 1 of Interface controller are connected to Fabric 1.
FC cabling: Partion#2 - Commvault environment
Port 0 of each of the 11 drives and Port 0 of Interface controller are connected to Fabric 2.

Data protector Cell Manager is zoned to Interface controller port#1, 4 tape drives using Fabric 1.
Data protector Media Servers are zoned to 4 tape drives using Fabric 1.

CommVault Media server and Library Interface controller WWNN (we can change this to port#0 of IC if required), 11 tape drives using Fabric 2.

In CommandView TL, we have granted access to hosts using Advanced Secure Manager.
Data protector - Cell Manager host is granted access to Library Robotics and 4 tape drives. Media servers were granted access to 4 tape drive s(no robot)
Similary, for CommVault partition - Media Server is granted access to Library roboctics and 11 tape drives.

Old environment 'CommVault' is working fine with the library controller and 11 tape drives. However, Data protector environment is seeing the 4 tape drives only but not detecting the library controller (Cell manager is not detecting the Autochanger)

We have not enabled custom device maps for any host.

Please advise if we are missing on any required tasks.DO you see any issues with FC cabling to library interface controller from two fabrics? Thank you!

Re: ESL712e library partition

Hello,

Could you collect a support ticket from the IM and IFC from CVTL and post it here?

Thanks

Re: ESL712e library partition

Hello,

what OS is used for the CM and MA? If it's a windows host: Have you disabled the "Removeable Storage Service?

Did the OS of the MA detect the changer?

Regards,
Patrick

Re: ESL712e library partition

Thank you GustavoT.I have attached support ticket from IM and IFC.

Patrick - Thank you. CM and MA are HP-UX machines. We didn't presentthe changer to MA. We will try this tomorrow and shall post a reply.

I appreciate your help.

Re: ESL712e library partition

2100001b328624e0 HOST ID: 11F00, FC PORT: 0 ifcmap-1598938_1202307201
CAVAUS01_HBA2_P1 HOST ID: 0, FC PORT: 0 ifcmap-1599963_1511730975

it looks like the host with Name CAVAUS01_HBA2_P1 is not logged in the IC

check zoning or verify the configuration on the SAN

Re: ESL712e library partition

Thank you. It worked after we enabled custom mapping and changed the FC port from "0" to "1" for Robot for CellManager.

Thank you all for your help!
