Error in HP DataProtector when backing up

When we start a backup the following error appears:
Cannot open exchanger control device (Invalid device file type.)
Does anyone know what might be the problem?
Tnx in advance.

Re: Error in HP DataProtector when backing up

It looks to me that somebody has specified the wrong device (LUN) for the robot or the assignment has somehow changed after the back of Data Protector.

Can you describe your hardware setup a bit, so me might be able to give some more hints?

Re: Error in HP DataProtector when backing up

What OS?
What is the output of "devbra -dev"?
Latest patches in place?
What is the library hardware, and how is it connected?

Thanks,

Re: Error in HP DataProtector when backing up

Hi,
Assuming you are using a DLT or Ultrium Library:
1) Do you have the robotic arm device file as /dev/rac/cxtxd0 ?
2) Have you enabled the robotic arm exchanger controller from the kernel it will be something like schgr in the kernel.
3) Are all the patches applied ?
