Errro in ESL 9000 Library
Hi All
Backups are failing on the library with one of the following errors. Can any one help on this?
Cannot forward segment. ([1117] The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. )
or
Cannot write to device ([1117] The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. )
or
Cannot open device (Unit not ready.)
Changed medias and checked. Still the problem persists and is seen randomly on all the drives
Its with 4 NSRs and 16 Drives.
Thanks
Prakash

Re: Errro in ESL 9000 Library
Hi,
Have you tried reclaibrating the library ?
Also if possible test the horizontal & vertical motion of the library from the front panel.
Regards

Re: Errro in ESL 9000 Library
This kind of message is usualy due to a lost of connectivity with the device. I would suggest to check Switch logs to see if there is some problem on FC port increasing, and to check the NSR traces in order to see if you have some scsi channel problem.
You have also to see if the error already appear on one tape or one group or all, depending of this you can limit your troubleshooting
