Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape Drive

Hi!
Any idea if Exabyte VXA-2 internal tape drives are supported on ML110 or ML150 HP servers ?

Thanks,
Alejandro

Re: Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape Drive

Alejandro:

The VXA-2 drives are LVD/SE so as long as you have a compatible SCSI HBA and a driver for the O/S... this should be fine.

G'luck!
Enjoy!

Re: Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape Drive

If you need a LTO-215 drive, you need to order part number: Q1543A

Yes, the VXA-2 and the LTO-215 internal drives should fit in a 5-1/4 bay just fine.
Enjoy!

Re: Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape Drive

John:
On this link http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/ISS/index.html
I found that the Ultirum 215 internal is not supported on this servers (ML110 and ML150)
said that I need an external unit.

But this mean that couldn't fit or work ?

Thanks,
Alejandro

Re: Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape Drive

I think the compatibility statement is based on the "integrated" controller. If you have a PCI based HBA, this limitation should not apply.

There is plenty of space in the media bays for the drive... so it will not be too close to the power supply.

Be sure to properly terminate the drive.
Enjoy!
